Family Group Records

The names and details of living persons are not listed in these data files. Anyone born within the past 100 years is presumed to be alive unless it is known otherwise. These individuals are simply listed as (Private).

The children are listed either in order of birth or in order of baptism. If neither date is known, the children are listed in alphabetical order.

Before 1752 in Britain and its colonies, the new year began on March 25. However, some early dates are listed as if the new year began on the first of January. (For example, a date such as 13 February 1694/95 may be given as 13 February 1695.) Eventually, all early dates will be listed in dual mode.

The earliest records often record baptismal and burial dates instead of birth and death dates. Although a person is usually buried very soon after death, baptisms may not take place until a year or two after birth.

Because county names and boundaries have changed over time, the names of the US counties listed in these records are as they are today, but the names of the English counties are as they appear in the Vital Records.
